01What a DWS system does on your floor
Every parcel that leaves a warehouse is billed by the greater of its actual weight and its dimensional weight. If you do not measure it yourself, the carrier measures it for you — and bills you for the difference, plus a correction fee. A DWS system (dimensioning, weighing, scanning) puts the measurement at your dock, at the moment of packing or induction, so the record is yours before the parcel moves.
A Goodscan DWS line combines three captures in one pass. A 3D vision unit measures length, width and height and computes volume. A weighing section records actual weight at the same moment. A barcode reader — top-mounted or six-sided — ties both values to the parcel's identity. The result is one clean record per parcel: order number, dimensions, weight, dimensional weight and a billing-ready data set for your warehouse system.
The current line-up covers the full size range a logistics operation handles: desktop and static units for packing benches, dynamic machines that measure parcels in motion on a belt, pallet dimensioners for freight and a truck dimensioning system for loaded vehicles. Behind the measurement point, singulators, wheel and cross-belt sorters and conveyor lines carry parcels to their destinations.
02The range at a glance
Twenty-seven models are listed in the current Goodscan line-up, organised in five families. Start from the family that matches your freight, then narrow by throughput.
Goodscan equipment families
| Family | What it covers | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| Small-parcel DWS | Static, dynamic, semi-dynamic and desktop dimensioners for cartons and mailers | /parcel-dimensioner/ |
| Large freight measuring | Pallet dimensioners (GS300 series) and the GS400 truck dimensioning system | /pallet-dimensioner/ |
| Scanning | Six-sided scanning tunnels and in-line barcode capture for DWS lines | /scanning-tunnel/ |
| Sorting | Cross-belt (linear and loop), wheel, narrow-belt and Z-type sorters, singulators | /sortation-system/ |
| Conveying | Belt, roller, incline, curve and telescopic conveyors, weigh-in-motion sections | /conveyor-systems/ |
03Built by a measurement company
Shenzhen Yi Fang Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2015 in Shenzhen and builds the Goodscan range of intelligent logistics equipment. The company profile states that its founders come from the School of Geodesy and Geomatics at Wuhan University — a surveying and measurement background that shows in the product line: every machine in the range exists to measure something accurately and feed the result into a logistics process.
The company profile states that Goodscan equipment serves more than 2,000 customers and has been exported to 18 countries, and that the company holds more than 100 patents and software copyrights; the company also describes itself as a national high-tech enterprise and a specialised, sophisticated SME. Certificates are available upon request — ask us and we will share the documentation relevant to your project.
What that means for a buyer is a single accountable source for the measuring point and everything around it: the DWS machine, the sorter behind it, the conveyors feeding both, and the data hand-off to your systems, all engineered to work together instead of being assembled from separate suppliers.
04How a project usually runs
Dimensioning projects fail on mismatched assumptions more often than on hardware, so we start from your parcel profile, not from a catalogue page.
- Parcel profile. You send the size and weight range, the daily volume and the destinations or carrier mix. That profile decides static vs dynamic, and which sorter frame fits.
- Configuration. We propose a line layout — measuring point, singulation, sorting, conveying — with the model list and an interface plan for your warehouse or carrier systems.
- Build and test. Standard machines are supplied from a single set; typical lead time is 15–30 working days depending on configuration, confirmed in the quotation. Lines are run-tested with sample parcels before dispatch where the project calls for it.
- Install and support. Layout drawings, installation guidance and operator training materials ship with the equipment, and the service hotline stays your first contact after go-live.
